What is a Dry Mortar Production Line?

The dry mortar production line consists of a series of equipment that covers the entire bulk material handling process, and its configuration is different from that of a concrete batching plant. It mainly includes raw material drying, crushing, screening, classification, mixing, dosing, packaging, palletizing, conveying, and storage. In simple terms, it mixes cement, sand, additives, and other raw materials in precise proportions, then delivers them to construction sites in either bagged or bulk form. Users only need to add water and stir according to the specified ratio before use. This equipment can produce both bagged and bulk dry mortar, which is widely applied in construction projects for masonry, plastering, flooring, waterproofing, and other applications.

What Can a Dry Mortar Production Line Produce?

A dry mortar production line can produce a wide variety of mortar types, including:

1. Common mortar: masonry mortar, plastering mortar, floor mortar, waterproof mortar.
2. Special mortar: crack-resistant mortar, interface mortar, adhesive mortar, gypsum mortar, decorative mortar, and thermal insulation mortar.

The commonly used raw materials include cement, sand, hydrated lime, gypsum, perlite, quartz powder, as well as various chemical additives and pigments. Through precise proportioning and efficient mixing, the production line ensures stable performance and reliable quality, meeting diverse construction needs.

Working Principle of a Dry Mortar Production Line

1. Raw Material Drying and Screening

In dry mortar production, sand is the main aggregate. Natural sand usually contains moisture, which may cause mortar clumping and poor storage performance if used directly. Therefore, wet sand is loaded into a wet sand hopper and conveyed via a belt conveyor into the dryer. The moisture content of the sand is reduced to below 0.5%. After drying, the sand passes through a vibrating screen to separate different particle sizes. Coarse and fine sand are stored separately and selected according to production requirements.

2. Raw Material Storage and Conveying

The dried and screened sand is transported to sand silos. Additives and bagged materials are lifted into their respective storage bins. Cement, gypsum, fly ash, mineral powder, and other additives are stored in dedicated silos. Bulk materials such as cement are kept in sealed steel silos and supplemented by pneumatic or screw conveying. Small-dose materials such as cellulose ether and thickeners are usually fed manually into small bins.

3. Automatic Batching and Weighing

Materials from the sand, powder, and additive silos are discharged by screw conveyors into their weighing hoppers. Major materials such as sand, cement, and fly ash are automatically weighed by electronic scales or weighing hoppers, with an error margin of about ±1%. Additives and small-dose materials are measured using micro-batching systems or manual weighing, with accuracy controlled within ±0.5%. Sensors provide real-time feedback to ensure precise dosing. Once all materials are weighed, they are transferred via screw conveyors into an intermediate hopper for mixing preparation.

4. Material Mixing

The intermediate hopper discharges materials into the dry mortar mixer. The mixer thoroughly blends sand, powder, and additives according to the preset mixing time (generally 3–5 minutes, adjustable depending on materials). The lifting system must be well-sealed and stable to prevent dust leakage during operation.

5. Finished Product Conveying and Packaging

The mixed dry mortar is conveyed by screw conveyors or pneumatic systems into finished product silos. These silos are steel and airtight, equipped with dust collectors and arch breakers to prevent clogging and dust overflow. Mortar is temporarily stored before packaging or bulk dispatch. For bagged products, valve bag packers or open-mouth bagging machines are used.

6. Automation Control

The entire production process is managed by a computer-based control system, significantly reducing manual intervention while improving efficiency and accuracy. Sensors and weighing systems at each stage ensure precise dosing and uniform mixing, guaranteeing consistent product quality.
